PICTURES:
Unfortunately, unlike most families where you have loads of pictures of your first child and not so many of the other children, we have none from "Big Bad"; we were blessed that one of our ACTors had a program.
I will tell you about our humble beginnings... It started in 2006 when I approached the Board of Education about using a classroom at "the old high school" for a children's community theatre. My daughter had been involved in the Area Community Theatre in Milledgeville before we moved to Warrenton, and I wanted her to have the same type of opportunities here. ACT (Area Children's Theatre) was born in Warrenton with the help of the BOE, namely the 21st Century Program. For our first two seasons, 21st Century funded us by purchasing our scripts. Costumes and sets were built from private donations. Public, private and home schooled children were involved. It was quite a shock to see the stage at the Warren County High School for our dress rehearsal when we had only rehearsed in a small classroom. The play involved putting the Big Bad Wolf on trial. His lawyer, the Evil Stepmother, cross-examined opposing counsel's (the Fairy Godmother) array of witnesses, such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. We gave the audience all three scenarios: Guilty, Not Guilty, and Hung Jury. It was Big Bad FUN! |
